This is a presentation medal to Mollie Brown (Not that one), who became world renowned as a bareback trick rider.
Mollie debuted with her own act at the age of five, thrilling audiences with her strength and skill as a bareback equestrienne. She toured with numerous circuses throughout the 1860s and early 1870s, receiving prominent billing and acclaim wherever she appeared. She was the first to perform a somersault on the back of a moving horse.
This medal appears to have been fashioned out of a silver dollar. It measures 1.5" and is inscribed Mollie Brown, Mrs Brown, Fannie Horn and on the obverse Presented to Champion Bareback Rider of California and a relief of clasped hands.
